Me

I  have such style.....

All's Well!

Everyr\thing is fine.  Dad's surgery went fine, so did Mum's.  She said, "It was a piece of cake."  (I don't like cake except for some icings.

She thinks Dad is depressed.  He says nothing tastes good.  He's tired all the time, isn't doing his exersies or walking.  He says he's just old.  He does somethings but would rather sit in his chair, read, watch TV or work on the computer.  (He claims to be related to all the Kings and Queens of Europe.)  He will come up with any excuse to not do something.  I am so worried nabout him as is Mum.  Depression is prominent after heart attacks.

I have become quite the hunter. I find these things called salamamders and bring them in the house.  Some are dead. (YAH!) but if he can can he saves the others. I also catch cicadas (locusts).  Dad tries to save them too.

Mum & Dad

I'm very worried about.  Mum has been crying all and isn't eating. She won't do anything.  She's sooo  worried about Dad.  He has to have more surgery this week.  He is 81 today and beed so tierd.  He doees very little but sit.

Also Mum has to have hand surgery soon and who wukk take care of her and him?

Then her Marton of Honor is having a wedding shower the same day.  Nikki, a cousin, decided to have a double birthday party at Tori's Aunt Cindy, so of course,  few, if any of the relatives are going there.  We are so disappointed,.

The she fell in the garden twice, hitting her face and head on a brick. There was so much blood we didn't know what to do.  Her face is swollen, cut, and bruised.  She wouldn't go to church.....

She's also upset that she most like won't be able to visit her father in Texas.  He's 91 and has Parhinson's disease.

Birthdays

Today is my forever adoptive birthday.  I've lived here 1 year.  I turned 4 onJuly 7.  There was a small party.  Everyone got new catnup, fresh chicken, a new toy,, and cat treats.  Hammond was a bit rude, eating first.  Poppey hit Blackie in a fight over the catnip.

Next weekend is Dad'd 81st birthday.  He had a big party last year.  I was still locked in my room.  Mum and Dad will just go out for dinner.  He always want to eat in Knightstown.

He's recovering slowly from the horrible heart attack the end of May.  We knew something was happening.
Mum and Dad argued all night, with her saying you're having a heart attack an he keeping denying it.  Police and an ambulance took them the emergency room.  They did some tests then moved him to a heart hospital.  They were there 4 days. One of her friends and Tory fed us but it was so lonely.  He is okay, but so tired.  He's supposed to be walking a half hour a day, but that totally wipes him out.  Mum is still very worried.

Mum did fine until the day after they came home, then she went on a binge to clean the garage.  They can now put a car in it this winter.  Mum won't be  allowed to do it, since she has no depth perception.  Also, he's afraid she'll run over a cat.  After doing lots of pitching and throwing in the garage, she had a "melt-own", falling apart, angry, didn't eat, but her doctors helped with that.

There's more, but I want to go outside....

Billy Bob

Tragic news:  Billy Bob, my black bob tailed cat was killed on the road.  He was here fo supper,  Abot an hour later, a nice woman  called to say her father saw a black cat on the side of the road.  He even thought he might still be alive.  She drove the 20 some miles to see.  But he was dead and she saw his tag and called us.  Dad brought him ome.  We'll bury him in the cat cemetary in the morning.  Mum wants to plant a peony.

I spent the entire day outside.  It's finally back in the 70s.

Poor Bits cries constantly if noone is in the room....

Dog

A big brown dog visited the deck today.  He didn't have a collar, but did wear a chock chain.  He ate all the dry cat food, the bacon fat, and a dish of grilled shrimp, bell peppers, onions and tomatoes.  Must have been hungry.  He chased me, but ran from Poppy.  But Gary made it clear he(she) wasn't welcome here.  Gary watched him thru the deck door and then charged the door.  Poor dog ran away with his tail between his legs.

Bits and his Bad Ear Day!

It's just terrible.  Poor Bits!  He had to go back to the vets to really fix his ear--another $96.00....
He had to have surgery, sutures with plastic sewn to his ear, and an Elizabethan collar.  He was absolutely frantic and we were told he HAD to be kept inside for at least a week or more.  That is soooooooo difficult with cat doors and the rest of us.  He's confined to Dad's room.  He's desparate to get rid of the collar.  We all fell sooooo bad!

Mum is very upset with herself for thinking the new vet's method would be better than Blackie's button ear.  It was much more expensive and definitely worse for poor Bits.

He does much better with Dad in the room than by himself.  He is getting special treats....

Ear Continued

Mum's back is really bad tonight.  She weeded and vacuumed the floors.  The pain has even made her throw-up, kinda like when I eat grass.

After the Blog ate my writings, I'll try to reconstruct....

Mum and Dad took him to a different vet (the one she used 40 some odd years ago with her 1st Abby, Samantha).  Doc Garvin knows newer methods than her farm vet.  The cost was alot higher, but he doesn't have a button.  He drained and put a dressing on the ear. Doc also found a very bad ear infection but NO ear mites.  Doc says it's very rare for him to treat ear hemotomas.  My brothers have had 3 within 5 months.....  Mum and Dad have had cats for some years 64 years without ever seeing one before.  Bits didn't seem to have any trouble with the bandages or his meds, but came home for supper without the dressing....  Mum is very upset because the ear is already filling up with blood.  They don't want to have to pay another $125.00....

Exhausted

I'll write a little before I crash for the night.  I am exhausted!  I've been out and about since dawn. It's now dusk.  I love being outside.  I don't always come when called but once in awhile I do.

Mum is really upset because she doesn't know where I go.  She says she wants to put a bug on me so she could track me.  She is so afraid for me.  She even thinks someone will steal me....  (like Sorophy).  I don't think I'd ever go to a stranger.

Poor Old Bits.  He's 68 in human years.  The only problems with illness he's had were abscesses from squabbles.

But he developed a hematoma on his ear, just like Blackie.

Roamings

Mum is sooo upset when I am out in the rain, because it's cold and wet.  Mum's stud cat was stolen.  Sorophy got outside and it rained.  Then it rained hard.  She looked everywhere, searched all over and couldn't find him.  She heard from her vet that half Abys were being found 4 blocks away.  About 10 years later the sister of a woman who lived nearby said her sister, who was a client of Mum said, knew about her GrCh cat and stole by her.  The sister said that Mum didn't care because he was out so she took him and moved to Florida where she and he died.

Happenings at Night

At night in this househood can be very interesting.  After Mum and Dad go to bed, if I'm not outside I observe.  Last  night there was ayoung oppossum on the deck.  No food so he went away.  Some of the cats slept all over the house.  Some were awake watching.  Mommy Cat came out to eat.  Mum woke up, but Mommy didn't run.  She didn't run.  Instead she sat lay down and played with a catnip toy.  A good sign.

The I saw the strange catlike face thru the cat door.  It was a young racoon.  I charged and he ran, but he came back and I had to charge again.

It's fun at night....

Obsession

Mum calls me "obsessed" with being outside.  Saturday was sooo nice.  I stayed out just about all day and night.  I would come in and check on Mum, eat something and go out again.  During the night I brought in and ate 2 moths, then went out again.  She was up at 3 to get a drink of water just as I was coming in the for the night.  She was not happy.  (These moths aren't the only thing I've caught. I caught several other moths, a fly and a big ant earlier, but they were in the house.)  Yesterday it started raining during the wee hours and continued until this morning and it's colder and rainy today.  I'm spending more time in the house today even on top of the kitchen cabinets in my basket.  Last night she and I couldn't sleep very well until 3:00.  I kept going out.  Everytime I came in and ahe called me "wet cat".  I then waked on her BSF homework and smeared the answers in ink.  She uses real washable ink in a fountain pen.  She said she'd use the excuse just like the old saying. "My dog ate my homework."

Tomatoes

Mum says we have a BIG problem.  Dad told her I ate lots of the beautiful tomato that she keeps with the fruits.  She says tomatoes are toxic to cats!  And can give cats severe stomach distress.  She says I can't have anymore.  She'll hide them.  But what will she do in August in the garden??  And what will I do.

Mommy cat speaks to her kits when they mew, kinda like a soft growl.  They're still under Mum's and Dad's bed.  She comes out to eat and play with the toys, but she's awful shy.  Nobody bothers her.  We want her to become more domesticated so we can tame the kittens.

My Past and My Future

Today was VERY special for Mum and I.  Mum spoke to my Gamma Ruth and learned all about me and my show career.  I WAS NOT A THROW-a-WAY!  I like Lil Cat and Bits were and are very much wanted.  All the others were tossed out here, even the new Momma Cat.  (By the way, noone has seen her all day, but we've heard mewing and she's eaten everything put out for her.)  I Am a Champion, but I guess the shows were not my destiny.  Why, I even ran from a judge.  They talked for a very long time.  Now, I need to go back and correct my history.  Mum really didn't know.  I'll talk more and post photos later.  Mum is still coughing, esp after talking....

Continuing Saga of Baby Kittens

Arlene and Mum fed the babys twice--formula from the recipe in the 50 year old green cat book.  She considers it her best cat reference source.  They put the kittens in a cardboard carrier box in the garage.  The momma cat came back after about 7 hours, just in time for the 3rd feeding.  We were shocked to see the momma was White Spot.  We didn't even know she was a female.  She had been sleeping in the garage at night since Christmas.  She is black with white on her neck and some white on her tummy.  She was a kitten when she came.  She would eat here once in awhile, but ran if she saw us altho Mum and Dad say they petted her once in awhile.  She is so young and only a little bit bigger than I am.  And I had to have my kittens Causarean Section.  Then last night she moved the kittens.  The weather is and was awful--rain, rain, and more rain.  It is super wet.  Mum slept late this morning (she's still sick) but swears they are under the bed.  She heard mews, but we have not taken a flash light to see.  Poppy, Si, and I have peeked under the bed and we think she is there.  Dad doesn't think so....  I'll post a photo later.

Exciting Easter Weekend

Yesterday was quite interesting.  One of Mum's best friends, Aunt Arlene, needed a declawed affectionate cat for her Grandson, who has develmental problems.  Mum and Dad thought Gary would be perfect, because he didn't get enuf attention.  He was friendly with them so they took him across the street.  He loved the brushing.  (Mum says she'll have to start brushing all of us, since he liked it soooo much.)  But he cried for 2 1/2 hours and sat by the front door.  We brought him back home.  We really thought he would like a new home, but he wants his home here with all of us....

Then this morning Gary caught a baby rabbit and brought the poor thing in the house.  He didn't put too much of a fuss when Dad took it away from him.  The baby may survive.  It was bleeding but did hop away.  Nobody chased him.

The excitement continued.  Mum heard crying.  She thought maybe another rabbit, but finally she and Dad found 3 baby kittens in Mum's closet in Dad's computer room.  They were all dark stripped and the eyes weren't open.  Mum said they were about a week old.

I have to sleep and will continue the story tomorrow.  Soooo sorry!

Winter

It's been over a month.  So I have catch-up to do....

Winter's been hard on us.  Taleless died--we assume from old age.  Our Maine Coon was run over and died on the on the road.  We still don't know if she had a home or not nor kittens.  She is really missed, as is the constant citing of Taleless.  He was a feral cat, but he wouldn't run if he saw us, just get off the deck.

It's Spring according to Mum.  She considers St. Patrick's Day the arrival of the nice weather.  It's been warm the last few days, so we cats are spending a lot of time outside.  Today it's in the upper 60's.  Mum said some people plant peas and potatoes this day.  We don't.  In fact, there won't be much of a garden this year, because Mum and Dad aren't able to care for one.  Of course, we'll have tomatoes.  I like to bite into them.

The big excitement has been the Japanese situation.  My brother, Jonathan, his wife, Bora, and my nephew, Zander  are safe in Korea with her parents.  Bora and Zander left on Monday.  Flights were hard to obtain. Jonathan was able to get on a Korean charter plane out on Tuesday. Bora's father arranged it.  The aftershocks after the 9.0 earthquake are continuing.  Food is in short supply.  The rolling blackouts make it hard to work.  And then there's the threat of radiation from the nuclear plants.  We are so glad they're safe.
What a terrible disaster.  We hear the Japanese are even rescuing pets from the tsunami and bringing them to the shelters.
