Winter

It's been over a month.  So I have catch-up to do....

Winter's been hard on us.  Taleless died--we assume from old age.  Our Maine Coon was run over and died on the on the road.  We still don't know if she had a home or not nor kittens.  She is really missed, as is the constant citing of Taleless.  He was a feral cat, but he wouldn't run if he saw us, just get off the deck.

It's Spring according to Mum.  She considers St. Patrick's Day the arrival of the nice weather.  It's been warm the last few days, so we cats are spending a lot of time outside.  Today it's in the upper 60's.  Mum said some people plant peas and potatoes this day.  We don't.  In fact, there won't be much of a garden this year, because Mum and Dad aren't able to care for one.  Of course, we'll have tomatoes.  I like to bite into them.

The big excitement has been the Japanese situation.  My brother, Jonathan, his wife, Bora, and my nephew, Zander  are safe in Korea with her parents.  Bora and Zander left on Monday.  Flights were hard to obtain. Jonathan was able to get on a Korean charter plane out on Tuesday. Bora's father arranged it.  The aftershocks after the 9.0 earthquake are continuing.  Food is in short supply.  The rolling blackouts make it hard to work.  And then there's the threat of radiation from the nuclear plants.  We are so glad they're safe.
What a terrible disaster.  We hear the Japanese are even rescuing pets from the tsunami and bringing them to the shelters.

  3. Hello Abigail,
I am so happy to find your blog! You were born in a softly lit corner of my den, in a birthing box right next to my sofa, here in Louisville, KY. I stayed up all night with your mother to make sure everything was OK, and we welcomed you into the world together.

I can see from reading your blog that you do not know much of your first 18 months, so I would like to fill in the gaps for you.

  4. I have some baby pictures of you and your sister with your mother if your new mum would like them :-) One shows you next to your sister Kalena (aka moose) nursing in the living room. Yes your sister was a LOT bigger than you, and that is how you got your nickname Iddybiddy
First thing is you were not in a cage here, you ran free in the house, as did your mother. Also, you were a show cat and your full registered name is CH Rulissa Malena . To be a show cat you have to have lots and lots of human interaction and be well socialized in order to not be frightened with all the people and other animals at the show. You were a good traveler and stayed in hotels with me, never once making any mess in a room and snuggled under the covers at night, purring softly.
You went to live with Colleen , in Indiana ,to have your babies after your show career. You were a very good mother, but had trouble delivering your kittens (that happens to some human mommies too). We felt it was best for you to retire and find a forever home where you could be a pet, you were not a ‘throw away’ cat, on the contrary we waited until just the right people came along to love you just the way you are a beautiful, free spirit like your mother.

    Love Gamma Ruth
